Understanding different flowers and foliage, knowing how to select and care for plant material and how to use them to maximum effect and wow spectators. Purpose of Course
The NCFE Creative Craft Level 2 Award in Floristry Course has been designed to focus on the skills and training required to work within the Floristry Industry as a new career path, or for those wishing to update and enhance their existing skills.
The course is 1 day per week and you will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence to include your practical work, completed unit assessments, written assignments, photographic captures of your work and sketches.
The course will consist of:
Identification, care and conditioning of fresh materials. Costing fresh materials for retail purposes, calculating VAT.
Planning, assembling and evaluating floral designs/arrangements to include costings, care, storage, transport and suitability.
During the course there may be the opportunity to attend nearby floristry events, visit flower markets and to create window and internal floristry displays.

What level is this course & what skills do I need?
This is a Level 2 NCFE Course
Though not mandatory, it would be advantageous to have completed either; Introduction to Floristry, Floristry Foundation or Level 1 Floral Design before starting this level 2 course.
You will have a good command of English and be able to follow instructions.
A large lever arch A4 portfolio file plus an A4 ring binder for handouts and notes, A4 lined notepaper and dividers and general stationery are essential.
In addition you may choose to purchase books costing approximately £15 (You are advised not to purchase text-books or equipment until after the course start date).
There will be 2 - 4 hours of homework set per week on average.
Is a course approval interview/assessment required?
Yes
To be considered for a place on this course, you are required to attend a Course Approval session to ensure this course is suitable for you. You may be asked to complete a test/tests.

You will then be asked for further information and will receive a link via email that will enable you to book a Course Approval date and time.
Additional information
You will need a floristry tool kit. If you do not have a kit, you will be able to purchase one from the college the price is £70.00. Fully funded learners will be able to claim for this through the Learning Support Fund. Once you have enrolled onto the course, you will be given the opportunity to make this purchase. The course will be held within the college, however, before the start of the course you will be invited to join a Google Classroom which is the tool that will be used to share information with you about the course, update you with important information etc.
